On May 15, 2025, the venue of AMILOT partner, the Almazov National Medical Research Centre, hosted the 2nd International Scientific and Practical Conference “Medical and Health Tourism as an Important Factor in the Strategy for the Development of Medical Services Export.” The conference was held in St. Petersburg as part of the 8th St. Petersburg Medical Innovation Forum with international participation, which took place on May 15–17, 2025.
The 8th St. Petersburg Medical Innovation Forum became one of the major professional platforms of the year. According to the Almazov Centre, it brought together more than 7,000 participants, while its program included scientific sessions, a plenary meeting, and exhibitions of medical equipment, pharmaceutical products, and innovative healthcare developments.
The conference focused on promoting Russian medical services in the international market, advancing medical and health tourism, and developing practical models of cooperation among clinics, health resorts, research medical centres, and foreign partners. According to the program, the session covered innovation-driven strategies for medical services export, Russia’s cooperation with India and China, the possibilities of high-tech care at the Almazov Centre, the development of oncology services, cellular medical tourism, laboratory diagnostics export, and the role of the sanatorium-and-resort sector in health tourism.
For AMILOT, such events are especially important because they create a platform for professional dialogue among the medical, scientific, and tourism communities. Holding this specialized conference at the venue of the Association’s partner, the Almazov National Medical Research Centre, highlights the importance of pooling expert resources to promote high-quality medical services, expand international cooperation, and strengthen Russia’s position in medical and health tourism.
